Who is responsible
Lince is an app made in Chile by an independent developer. For any privacy question, write to lince.revision@gmail.com.
What is stored only on your phone
All of this stays on your device and is never sent to any server:
- The texts and books you paste or import (.txt, .epub, .pdf), and the Classic Library books you pick.
- Your progress in each text, your reading sessions, streak, points (XP), badges and records.
- Your answers to "How much did you understand?" and your speed test results.
- Your settings: language, theme, colors, font, speed, daily goal and reminder time.
- The addresses and, if you enter them, the username and password of the OPDS libraries you add.
If you uninstall the app, all of this is deleted from your phone.
When the app connects to the internet
You don't need internet to read. The app only connects when you do one of these things:
- You share a link with Lince: your phone downloads that page directly from the website to extract the article's text. The website sees it like any visit from a browser. The link and the text don't go through our servers.
- You use an online library (OPDS): your phone connects directly to the address you entered,
with the username and password you added, if any. If the address starts with
http://(nothttps://), the connection isn't encrypted and someone on the same network could see what is sent; usehttps://whenever your library supports it. - You sign in or buy Lince Plus: explained below.
Clipboard
Lince reads what you copied only when you tap "Paste". It doesn't check your clipboard in the background or keep what's in it, except the text you choose to add to your library.
If you sign in with Google (optional)
You can use Lince without an account. We only ask you to sign in with Google to import files or to buy Lince Plus. If you sign in, we store:
- Your email address, your name and your Google account identifier.
- A record of your imports: the date and number of words of each imported file (not its content or file name), to apply the free import limit.
This data is stored with Supabase, our account provider, on servers located in São Paulo, Brazil. It is only used to run the app; it is never sold or shared for advertising.
Purchases
Lince Plus purchases are processed by Google Play. We never see or store your card details. To know whether you have Plus we use RevenueCat, which receives the purchase information from Google Play (product, date and subscription status) linked to an anonymous identifier of your Lince account.
What we don't do
- We don't show ads.
- We don't use analytics or tracking tools.
- We don't access your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera.
- We don't upload the texts you read.
Notifications
If you turn on the daily reminder, your own phone schedules it. It doesn't go through any server.
How to delete your data
- Data on your phone: delete a text by pressing and holding it in your library, or uninstall the app to delete everything.
- Your account: in the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete my account. Your account and your import record are deleted immediately. You can also request it by email; see how to delete your account.
Children
Lince is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children under that age. If you believe a child created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. If the change is important, we will also announce it in the app.
